Stop the Pain!

Endodontic treatment is necessary to treat and preserve teeth with badly infected roots.

Root canals are performed when decay enters the pulp chamber located in the center of the tooth. This area contains blood vessels, connective tissues, and the nerves for the tooth. When it becomes infected, patients can experience swelling, pain, and total tooth loss unless treated. By removing the infected pulp, the pain and infection are eliminated and the tooth itself can be saved!

The organic portion of the tooth that remains may be restored using a cap or crown that provides a natural appearance and normal tooth function. In some cases, an antibiotic may also be prescribed to help prevent further infection within the tooth.

We recommend making an appointment for a full evaluation if you are experiencing chronic tooth pain from contact with cold or hot liquids and/or experiencing severe pain when biting down. When you come in for an evaluation Olson Family Dental offers the latest dental technology to determine if you are in need of a root canal treatment.
